If so, you could do it like I did in this example

Flashing Transition

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a transition.
In my application, I have 2 states, one containing a HBox with a Panel inside, and one with only a custom component in it.

As you can see in the code below, I defined a transition between loginState and reservationState, which uses an Iris effect to hide the loginScreen, followed by a Fade effect which fades in the reservationScreen.

This all works as expected, but right before the Iris effect starts, the loginScreen disappears for a brief moment.

I hope someone can point out what it is I'm doing wrong.

Best regards,

Jurgen

RE: Euro teken

Latest developments:

1. Retrieving text from the database including a euro-sign seems to work fine. E.g. ¬12 appears as ¬12 in the php log, and when I check the unicode of the leftmost character is appears as 8364 wich is correct.

2. When I return ¬12 to the Flex app using remoting (WebORB) it ends up in Flex as â?¬12 which is not was I was hoping for.

Could it be that the data is not transferred as UTF-8?
Does anyone have any idea what to do about this?

Again, any help is very much appreciated!

Cheers,
Romano

RE: Euro teken

Hi all,

Back from holiday and the problem with the euro sign is still there waiting for me :-(

Anyway, i've been doing some tests and i'm having trouble with returning a euro sign from a php script to a flex client app using WebORB for remoting. It appears as though the euro sign which is returned from a PHP function as an actual euro-sign (not an html entity) is received in Flex as an ISO character, not UTF-8 as I would prefer. I've placed the returned value in the htmltext attribute of an inputfield and a label.

The thing is that I can enter a euro sign using the keyboard (strangely enough using the windows keycombi instead of alt-2 on my Mac). But in my mind it should be possible to get unicode characters from serverside scripts and display them, right?!

Is there any way to tell Flex that the data that is received should be interpreted as UTF-8 characters??? Any other solution is also appreciated, of course!

Best regards,

@font-face{

    fontFamily: "rockwell";
    font-weight: bold;
and all looks great on my localhost, just don't put it to a server.
I also tried
@font-face{
    src: url("../fonts/ROCKB.TTF");
    fontFamily: "rockwellBold";
    font-weight: bold;
}
No idea what else to try.

p.s. yes, I put the fonts on the server in the correct folder :D

RE: Euro sign revisited (textinput)

Hi again,

Seems I've been looking in the wrong place.
What happens is that the euro sign ended up all messed up in the database. I've solved this with the SET CHARACTER SET 'utf8'query before the insert from the PHP script. Euro sign now sits nicely in the database.

Problem is that I can't get it back to the client app. I'm using WebORB for remoting. PHP log shows the euro sign correct just before passing it back to the client/WebORB. The FlexBuilder debugger shows it as   :roll:

Should I set the character set on the Flex side perhaps? Other "normal" characters (even the copyright and Registered symbols) appear correct.

I'm at a loss here, any help is once again greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers,

Thanx for replying Gerdt,

On my Mac it's alt-2 that enters the euro sign. It works in e.g. Mail and other apps but not in Flex controls.

I've posted my question on an Adobe Flex forum as well, keep you posted.

Cheers

Euro sign revisited (textinput)

Hi all,

My users request to be able to enter a euro sign into a textarea/textinput.
Normally on a Mac you'd press alt-2 but doing so in my app displays some strange character.

Extending the unicode-range in the css doesn't help. After all, the euro-sign does show in labels where I set it myself using the currencyformatter with currencySymbol="€. So the character seems to be embedded.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Best regards,
Romano

Flex and PHP sessions

Hello,

I'm currently using Flex in combination with AMFPHP for my database communication. I'm using a MySQL database.

The problem is that for my communication with my database I use services in AMF that are not really protected. So I was thinking of using sessions to see if a user is logged in. If so, only than can certain functions be called.

Does anyone have exp. with this?
